Our
three levels of editing indicate how we work. Most documents cannot be clearly placed in one category and may need lighter editing in some sections and more extensive work in others. While we have set out approximate costs for each category, we need to provide an individual quote for each document. When your deadline is tight, we have to limit the number of pages we can satisfactorily edit.
Level 1: proofreading and light edit - $US4.95 per page
This is our first level of editing. We proofread your document and fix any spelling and grammatical errors. In addition we correct and make consistent
- tenses
- punctuation
- hyphenation
- capitals
- italics
- bolding
- abbreviations
- acronyms.
We can also enhance your formatting to make your document attractive and suitable for its purpose. We may slightly rearrange sentences or paragraphs to improve their impact and style.
This minimalist approach is consistent with student academic requirements that they have not received professional help with intellectual content.
Changes will be tracked so that you can identify errors and improve your future writing.
Level 2: improving your style - $US6.95 per page
In addition to proofreading and a light edit, a Level 2 edit involves a more thorough edit with attention to
- language (to make an impression on your reader)
- structure
- introduction of formatting to assist readability
- style
- voice
- tables and figures
- cross-references
- footnotes, references and bibliographies.
We will make your words more reader-friendly, with less jargon and bureaucrat or corporate speak. Brochures, newsletters and technical reports - in fact most documents - can be vastly improved with some level 2 editing.
Changes will be tracked unless changes to structure make tracking confusing.
Level 3: serious surgery - $US10.95 per page
Do you have a document that has been assembled by a number of staff and does not hang together? Are you unhappy with a technical report? We can provide major surgery that could include
- large-scale re-writing to ensure consistency of voice and style
- restructuring of text into more logical sections
- addition of suitable headings
- breaking up the text with dot point lists and other devices for easier reading.
On completion of editing, you will receive a completed document and an edit report detailing the changes that have been made.
